hi again! hmm was abit disappointed because the docs and stuff said we cant really help t do anything due to our inexperience but we are still able to see and watch alot of stuff so thats good too! yst we saw a burns patient who was burnt so badly it was qt sad. my father says that she will die because they cannot treat it liao. she was burnt frm her head to her knee becuase apparently she poured kerosene on herself and tried to commit suicide that way. ouch! yah... we were wandering arnd the ICU yst and got to see alot of stuff that we wun have gotten to see in singapore. today we went to another hospital in a nearby town called ambillikai and we got to see an operation! there were going on so we were vascillating btw both. one was an endoscopy to remove a growth on the prostate and the other was the removal of the uterus os of a tumor. it was REALLY big ok. the docs were saying tt it can be a record cos its so big. its all lumpy and misshapen too! the operations were really interesting but when they were suturing the capillaries so that they wont bleed, i almost fainted because of the smell. s embarrassing lah haha the nurses made me lie down outside the operation theatre to get the blood back to the head. but when the smell was gone it was ok. anyway, me and char decided NOT to become surgeons because they are really rough! and the work is qt tiring and tedious cos most of it is sewing back blood vessels or cutting them. and they are super rough with the paient lah! we were rather horrified. when the doc saw us with a camera he posed with the uterus! it wasnt even completely removed yet lah!! and like they just shove towels into the patient like nobodies business! and also, at the end part, when they were checking for bleeds and stuff, the docs just like took the intestines out lah. it was qt scary! haha i will NEVER EVER want to be thier patient! when we came back we took a nap then went for a walk arnd the area. its really nice and full of rustic charm even tho its like so poor and stuff, its a really bustling place!we saw liek some huts built along the side of the roads tho, it was like the slums area. my father say is cos the villagers cannot afford to buy a hse so when they come to work in the town they have to stay there. its really qt sadenning that pple can actually live in such conditions. well, daddy leaves for chennai tonight, and i hope maybe we will settle i at the hospital more soon, cos they are really busy so qt hard to make friends tho dr sebastian, who is the cardiologist is a SUPER nice and friendsly guy and he showed us many many interesting things when we went to see him doing ultrasounds yst. really learnt alot abt heart desieses!!!! he was trying to convince us to take up cardiology too! it seems qt interesting haha, but i dunno! anyway, i think if i cannot get into nus med, i migt consider studying in india! the docs are REALLY good here and like, they have so much more experience and they get to learn alot faster cos of the many ore different diseases that can be found here. its funny, but there seems to be more talk abt the tsunami in singapore than here, i guess its because in singapoe we are so unused to disaster where here, its an everyday occurance, and like they are so poor that maybe death seems like qt an attractive option. also, i guess here they just get on with thier lives and like dun have as much lesiure to think as much as we do.
